WEEK #3 N.T. 55 VS NIAGARA WHEATFIELD 21

Friday night found NT facing their third top 10 team of the season when the Lumberjacks hosted the Niagara Wheatfield Falcons. The Lumberjacks were hungry for their first league contest...especially since they were facing the team that stripped them of their league title last year. The Jacks proved their superiority early and often in the game, running the ball all over the Falcons. The defense played a great game, giving up only one early score when the NW offense had a very short field. The Lumberjack offense pasted the NW defense putting 55 points on the board. The offense set a single game rushing record by accumulating 618 yards on the ground. Jr. FB Jeff Zellner led the charge with 245 yards on 18 carries and 3 TD's. Sr. RB Ryan Hawkins chipped in for another 3 TD's. Jr. RB Mark Christopher had a great second half rushing for 135 and a touchdown. Sr. LB Mike Skillington led the defense with 9 tackles and Sr. DB Martin Doty added an interception right before the half. The Lumberjacks proved the naysayers wrong and opened several eyes around the WNY football community. Clearly the Lumberjacks look like a force to be dealt with once again. The Jacks will travel to Niagara Falls on Friday night for their second league contest of the year.
