Week #1 NT vs St. Francis
It was a disappoint start to the 2007 season for the Lumberjacks as they took on a very good St. Francis team. The game marks the first time the Jacks have faced a Catholic League team since the Jacks beat St. Joe's back in 2000. The game looked like it would be a classic in the first quarter as both teams played well defensively. However, the 2nd quarter would be NT's downfall. The Jacks put the ball on the ground 4 times and lost two of them to allow St. Francis to put up 35 points on the board. The Jacks also gave up a long punt return by former Buffalo Bills son Lucas Tasker. The 2nd half went much better for the Lumberjacks as the offense was able to settle down and move the ball. Sr. QB Keith Bogdan would hit Soph. WR Aaron Davis for a 9 yard scoring strike and Sr. RB Adam Kibat would score on a 18 yard run to finish the scoring 42-13 in favor of the Red Raiders. Next week won't get any easier as the Jacks travel to Clarence for a Saturday showdown. The Red Devils were in the sectional title game last year and look to have another solid squad. This will be the Jacks' second non-league game in a row and will allow the team to take on another tough opponent that will prepare them for the long run of league games that will begin in two weeks.
